C-The Money of Soul and Possibility Control

C- Control was an anime created in 2011 directed by Kenji Nakamura and written by Noboru Takagi. This anime follows Kimimaro Yoga, a college student, who just like anyone else wants to live a stable ordinary life, and is learning how hard it is to make money. Early on Kimimaro is approached with a question, if you were given the choice to earn large sums of money every week in exchange for your future to become collateral would you take it?
This anime largely specifies how people view their money and how desperate they are to acquire it. Kimimoro is still just a young adult who, like many oblivious people, will be drawn into the world of the Financial District where he will make deals to obtain the Minus Money he needs to survive inside and out of the Financial District.
At first glance Kimimoro Yoga is your typical college student. He works hard in his academics and is kind hearted with only one or two friends as well as a part time job to help pay for school. Kimimoro also lacks the confidence that a son would only learn from his father who left him at a young age. Now living with his grandmother he strives for his goal of a simple and stable life.
Accompanying Kimimaro in the Financial District is his Asset Msyu, who acts more human like than most Assets. An Assets exists in a card you are given upon entering the Financial District, almost like a credit card. They are what you use to battle in deals you make with other members. If you win your funding’s grow, if you loose, the bank and your opponent get your money and then you learn who really has all the power.
C- Control lets you explore a world where money is everything, not too different from our own. In real life money controls almost everything and C- Control just lets you view this concept in a more extravagant way. It exercises the phrase “slave to the mighty dollar.” If you loose all of your funding in the Financial District while fighting in a deal your life essentially falls apart in the real world transcending to your real loss. Whoever has the money has the power right?

What I love about this anime is that in such a short time you get to watch Kimimaro grow into someone who stands up for what he believes in. It’s all about the choices you make and the people you trust as you grow that will depend on how your future turns out and if you can make the right choices yourself. Kimimaro has the pleasure of learning how to make choices the hard way and it is what makes him such an intriguing character. Though this is a short series it is full of intense battles to decide the fate of its’ characters and will keep you glued to the screen.
